Dress your little ones in style with DIY baby onesies! Your Cricut will make these favorite baby onesies easy to put together — and they’re ideal for baby showers and newborn gifts!

There is something so refreshing about spring that brings a wave of new babies. Even in nature animal babies are often born in springtime. As baby shower season is quickly approaching, we thought it’s the perfect timing to share a blog on how to create adorable custom onesies with a cute Cricut design using iron on!

While store bought ones are cute too, there’s something so fun about creating your own!

Supplies to Make DIY Onesies

You don’t need a ton of supplies to make DIY baby onesies with your Cricut. Which is why they make the perfect last-minute baby shower gift.

All you need is:

If you are pressed for time Cricut now makes Iron-On Designs, which are pre-cut. That saves a lot of time and hassle.

Best Place to Buy Blank Onesies

Wholesale blank baby onesie bodysuits are the cheapest, cost effective way to go. We highly recommend The Laughing Giraffe®‘s blank baby bodysuits. They are really high quality while also being affordable. They’re also the most true to size onesies we have found on the market.

They also carry onesies with tear away tags that make relabeling so easy! The cotton is a lightweight fabric that is ring spun and feels incredibly soft. It’s perfect for hot temperatures or as a base layer in cooler temperatures.

Getting Started:

Use your Cricut Explore 3 to upload your art work. We highly recommend this over the traditional Cricut Expression machine. No cartridges needed! Plus it comes with bonuses like a weeding tool, XL scraper and special materials. Definitely worth it!

Tips For Utilizing The Cricut EasyPress:

If you don’t have the Cricut Explore 3 yet then no worries, we have you covered! Make sure you’re using the correct setting. The Cricut EasyPress comes with a card that will indicate the settings. We recommend using 305 degrees fahrenheit for 30 seconds.

Use a Hard, Flat Surface:

We highly recommend using a stable surface and the Cricut EasyPress Mat. Ironing boards can be a bit flimsy and no one wants a hot heat press falling on the floor. If you don’t have the EasyPress Mat you can use a towel.

Heat Your Onesie First:

Before you lay your iron-on transfer, preheat the onesie by pressing it in the EasyPress for 15 seconds. Preheating allows for better results by letting the adhesive set well.

Press From The Back:

After you have done your first press on the iron-on transfer, flip over the onesie and do a press on the back. By doing a double-press it ensures the transfer really adheres to the baby onesie. Peel off the transfer sheet and voila — it’s done! If your vinyl is not releasing easily, give it another press.
